Woody. She now resides at Lake Tahoe and is known by the name ‘Woody’. Built by famous engineer and boat builder Garfield Wood in 1931 this is the Rolls Royce of motor cruisers and utterly beautiful. When I saw her I thought of Marilyn Monroe – scenes with the millionaire and the fancy yacht in ‘Some Like it Hot’.

I know – old boats are gorgeous but they do take a lot of elbow grease to keep looking this good.
Wooden boats have so much more character than the fiberglass ones nowadays. Truly a gorgeous boat. Yours?

No they don’t and it’s such a shame. Maybe all the maintenance needed is something that we’re just not prepared to do any more.

What a pretty boat! And she’s called Woody? We have little mini estate cars here – vintage ones – which used to be called ‘woodies’ for the exterior wood detailing.
